Learn how our team use your genetic, lifestyle, and diagnostic data to pinpoint your most effective fitness and health strategies.
FitnessGenes was founded by scientists, and science remains at the centre of everything that we do.
All reports are produced by our in-house team of doctors, geneticists, and fitness specialists to ensure that you receive detailed, accurate and actionable information from the very latest research.
From a single sample of your saliva, we identify your unique collection of more than 600,000 individual genetic variants.
This one-time test provides our team with the data needed to both generate your initial reports and deliver all future releases.
Your sample is processed using the gold standard in DNA sequencing, the Illumina Infinium Global Screening Array.
By sharing the same testing technology as 23andMe and Ancestry.com, this allows us to offer our DNA upload service to existing customers of these providers.
Your DNA only tells part of your story. To truly understand the effect that it's having on your fitness and health, we combine your genetic data with your daily lifestyle.
Your lifestyle analysis gathers critical insights into your activity levels, body composition, sleep quality, age, food choices and more to ensure that we build a complete picture of exactly who you are.
And as your lifestyle changes, you can update this information to ensure that your results and recommendations evolve with you.

No - your DNA sample is collected via a non-invasive saliva test, which means no needles are involved.
We use a saliva spit test rather than a swab test as this provides a greater yield of DNA. This in turn minimises the risk of having to collect a second sample because of an insufficient DNA within the sample.
We don't analyse the saliva itself, but instead extract the cheek cells contained within the saliva for analysis.
No - the genetic variants that we analyse remain consistent throughout your lifetime so there is no reason to take more than one test.
It is instead your lifestyle factors that can affect your personal results. Updating your lifestyle data, such as your body composition or age, as they change will make sure that your reports accurately reflect your fitness and health.
We only use a fraction of the 600,000 variants that we analyse in our current reporting.
However, by gathering data on all of these variants, it means that we can continuously research, build, and deliver new reports to all members without having to process additional samples.
Yes absolutely - you are the owner of your genetic data and you can use it in any way that you wish.
You can automatically download your raw genetic data file directly from your online Members' Area, no questions asked!
