No, this is not a diagnostic test. Most of our genetic reports describe predispositions, showing relative likelihoods. Having a particular genetic variant does not mean you will develop a disease or condition — it simply means your likelihood may be higher or lower compared with the average person. A small number of reports relate to variants with stronger clinical relevance (for example, familial hypercholesterolaemia or hereditary haemochromatosis) and are clearly presented in context. We always recommend discussing significant findings with a clinician.
