Before we can process your saliva sample, you must first register the unique barcode on the sample collection tube. This barcode is used to track your sample (anonymously) through our end to end process.
To do this please go to secure.fitnessgenes.com and follow the instructions to register the barcode on your saliva collection tube.
We can’t process a sample if it hasn’t been registered.

Your sample should be returned to us using the original mailing box.
Within the USA, Canada and UK you can return the sample free of charge, using the free returns label on the box. Simply place the sealed box in a post box and it will be sent to our laboratory. You will receive an email from us once your sample has reached us.
Outside the USA, Canada, and the UK we recommend that you return your sample using your country's standard postal service. This will be significantly cheaper than using a courier (e.g. FedEx, UPS) and your sample will reach our lab in a similar amount of time.
In the unlikely event that your sample does not reach us, we will cancel that barcode and reissue a new kit.
IMPORTANT – If you need to complete a customs form, you may be asked to give a content description and a customs value. The content description we recommend is “Exempt human specimen — saliva sample” and the customs value as “No commercial value".
If you are required to enter a value above zero then please put down “$1”.
“No commercial value” or “$1” is the value of the used sample collection kit, and not the price that you paid for the analysis and recommendations we provide. If you use another value (e.g. the retail price) on the form, the UK government will incorrectly levy an import tax, which unfortunately we will need to invoice you for before we can receive and analyse your sample.
In the UK the "Freepost FITNESSGENES" label is all that’s required to get your sample to us.
The buffer solution you added to your saliva sample will preserve your DNA for up to five years.
We are not aware of any legislation-based reasons that should prevent you from returning your sample to us if we have shipped our sample collection kit to you. However, occasionally clients can experience an issue, with little or no explanation given to them by the postal worker that served them.Often, a different individual or Post Office will post the sample with no concerns. If you find that you are still unable to return the sample to us, please contact us via email@example.com and we will be able to assist you.
If you need to complete a customs form, please ensure that you declare the value as 'no commercial value' to ensure that you are not charged any customs charges. If you are required to enter a value above zero then please use $1 / £1 / e1 etc.
In the description please put “Exempt human specimen — saliva sample”.
The liquid that you added to your saliva sample will preserve your sample for up to 5 years so there is no need to rush to return your sample to our lab.

Yes. We currently can use DNA results from 23andMe, Ancestry, Atlas Biomed, Family Tree DNA, iGene, Living DNA, MyHeritage and Vitagene to deliver the workout and nutrition plans we provide. You will need to download your raw DNA data file and then purchase our DNA Upload service.
The only food intolerance we test for at present is lactose intolerance. We don't test for gluten (in)tolerance as there is not yet a clear, single, genetic variation linked to gluten (there is one linked to coeliac disease - but this is a medical / autoimmune condition, and is not an allergy or an intolerance to gluten).
We will soon be moving to a new DNA analysis technology that will allow us to test for a number of genetic variations which may be linked to gluten intolerance. However, it is still recommended that you see your doctor for a blood test to make sure that it is gluten that you should be avoiding and not something present within most gluten products like yeast for example, which is causing any issues.
We don't currently provide a PDF / printable version of your report as we frequently release updates to the gene reports or other sections of the members area as new scientific insight is published.
We used to provide one some years ago, but given the number of free updates and enhancements we continue to provide (after you've received your results), we found that many customers were still referring to their out of date reports. We therefore decided to move to an online solution that is designed to be referred to frequently.
However, following the completion of a new members area in early 2018, we expect to release a printable summary report.
It typically takes 2 – 3 weeks from when we receive your sample before your results are available.
From time to time, a sample may need extra testing which can delay the results by approximately a week. We will contact you via email if there is expected to be a delay.
