Our state of the art genetics technology systems are incredibly complex on our side, but simple and user friendly on your side. The process is outlined below, and all you need to do is buy a kit, spit in a test tube, and register a barcode on our website. We take care of the rest.
Choose one of our tailored training plans that best matches your goals. Once your purchase is confirmed, we’ll post your DNA collection kit to you. You can expect to receive this within 2-5 working days, depending on your location.
Once you receive your DNA collection kit, you can provide your saliva sample and return it to us by following the instructions enclosed. We extract a sample of your DNA from cheek cells that are found in your saliva. These cells are kept safe in the special buffer enclosed with your kit, so your sample will reach us in excellent condition, no matter how long it spends in transit.
Note that if you are outside of the UK, you will need to pay for return postage.
When we receive your sample it is sent to our certified UK laboratory for processing, which typically takes 2-3 weeks. At the lab, our team extracts the DNA from your saliva sample and analyzes it (in duplicate) over 40 different genetic variations linked to physical performance or nutrition.
Our operations are extensively accredited to international quality standards including ISO 17025, for laboratory testing and calibration services, and ILAC G19 for forensic activities.
When our analysis is completed we will send you an email to let you know your results are ready to view. You can access your personal results by signing into our secure members area. Because the science of fitness is constantly evolving, our in-house team of PhD-qualified scientists continues to research and update information to this member area, ensuring FitnessGenes customers continue to stay at the cutting edge.
We take protection of customer data extremely seriously and employ end-to-end encryption to protect customer data at all stages. Our databases are encrypted using government-approved AES encryption, which is the same technology used for online banking.
